SOUTHEAST TEXAS HOSPICE
Hospice comes from the word “hospitality.” In times past, it was a way station for the wounded, sick and weary. Today, it is a valued service for the terminally ill and their family. Hospice cares for the physical, psychological, social, financial, and spiritual needs of the patient and their family in the comfort and privacy of their own home.
Our Beginnings
In 1976, four dedicated founding members set to work to make the dream of providing service to the dying in southeast Texas a reality. And by 1979, sixteen patients had been served. Since its humble beginnings, the Southeast Texas Hospice has grown to include a governing board of twelve area civic leaders, sixteen staff, and over sixty-five volunteers who serve over two hundred patient families per year.
As a private, nonprofit, non-governmental organization, the Southeast Texas Hospice is dedicated to caring for terminally ill patients and their families.
