Secret Garden Bed & Breakfast
Secret Garden Bed & Breakfast offers a retreat for rest and relaxation. This charming haven is a place for a romantic getaway or even an intimate wedding! It is a central location for sightseeing throughout the beautiful northern Black Hills. The goal is to make your visit to our home and Spearfish both enjoyable and memorable.
Built in the beautiful valley town of Spearfish, a garden town that supplied the gold miners, Secret Garden’s Victorian style home was financed by the famous Hearst family of Deadwood/Lead. Druscilla Hill, George Hearst’s cousin and Phoebe Hearst’s lifelong friend, purchased the property from Almira Riley.
In later years this Queen Ann style home was a coffee shop and even a fraternity due to its close proximity to Black Hills State University. Through its many owners, time took its toll and the house was in danger of being condemned. In 1978, the home was purchased and greatly restored by the Jim Seward family while he served as mayor of Spearfish. A later owner had it listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 1999, the home was purchased by Beverly Delon and Rochelle Lutz-Berg and turned into a lovely bed and breakfast. This charming historical property became ours in March, 2017.
