LOUISIANA STATE RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY BOARD OF EXAMINERS
In 1984, the Louisiana Medical Radiation Health and Safety Act, R.S. 37:3200 through R.S. 37:3221, provided that, to safeguard life and health by preventing excessive and improper exposure to ionizing radiation, any person practicing or offering to practice as a radiologic technologist in this state shall submit evidence that they are qualified to do so and shall be allowed to practice as a radiologic technologist. The Act created a board of examiners with regulatory authority responsible for examining, licensing and regulating qualified applicants as Radiologic technologists and to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public from the misuse of ionizing radiation. This law pertains to both diagnostic and therapeutic uses of ionizing radiation.
