Growing In Music

I have taught music and composed for over 40 years, having a degree in Creative Arts from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte with a major in Music Composition. Before completing my degree, I studied nine semesters of piano under Dr. George Stegner at Queens College, now Queens University. I began private studies under the late David Richey at Davidson for basic composition and harmony, completing more advanced work under Thomas Turner at UNC Charlotte.
I have participated actively in the North Caroling Composer’s Alliance, being coordinator for Iredell County, performing my music at Salem College, UNC Charlotte, and the Raleigh Museum, and writing music for a local musical.
My music students perform auditions in The National Guild of Piano Teachers yearly, doing a Christmas Recital, Spring Recital, and four mini recitals.
I have worked as an organist, pianist, choir director, and hand bell director in various local churches, recently retiring as Music Director of Harbor PCA, having served there eight years. Now I fill in at various churches as needed.
