ALTOONA ACHIEVERS CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Our purpose is to provide a safe, positive, nurturing and educational environment so that your Altoona Achiever is put on a path to success right from the beginning!
Our Philosophy At Altoona Achievers we believe having a state of the art center is only one ingredient of our recipe to providing a quality education for young children. To complete this recipe for success there are three key ingredients:
• Teachers- The teachers that care for these Altoona achievers are carefully chosen to have values that enable them to be nurturing, compassionate and positive role models. Our teachers are not just caregivers, but caring and enthusiastic educators that will implement our unique developmentally appropriate curriculum in a fun and positive environment. Every teacher that works at Altoona Achievers has received orientation and receives all training required by the Iowa Department of Human Services including First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions and Mandatory Reporting. They must pass state and federal background checks upon employment and obtain a physical examination from their doctor.
• Curriculum- Our one of a kind curriculum, created by our own curriculum specialist, is developmentally age appropriate and meets the needs of all the children at Altoona Achievers. We understand that no two children are the same; therefore, we believe that differentiated instruction is important. Young children learn best with hands-on experiences; so our curriculum includes a lot of learning through play with activities that include language, speech, cognitive, gross and fine motor, math, science and social skills development.
• Parent-Teacher Relationship, Participation and Access- We believe parents are the most important influence in their child’s life and welcome parent involvement. The relationship that they bring is vital to us providing quality care. Our partnership with parents allows our caregivers to create an environment that makes the children feel more like being at home. We encourage parents to contribute their ideas to enhance the care we provide. Parents shall be afforded unlimited access to their children and to the teacher caring for their children during the center’s hours of operation or whenever their children are in the care of a teacher, unless parental contact is prohibited by court order.
