Oakland Colon and Rectal Associates P.C. is the office of Drs. Donald Barkel, Harry Wasvary, Jason Shellnut, Matthew Ziegler, Claire Peeples, and Stephen Priest. All of our physicians are Board Certified in the specialty of Colon and Rectal Surgery and are on the staff at William Beaumont Hospital-Royal Oak.
We treat diseases of the colon, rectum and anus, both medically and, if needed, surgically. Advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive surgery, advanced laproscopic and robotic-colorectal surgery, fecal transplantation, interstem therapy for fecal incontinence, THD procedure for hemorrhoids, are utilized when appropriate. Common anorectal conditions, such as hemorrhoids, can usually be treated in the office setting. Colon cancer screening procedures, such as colonoscopies, are arranged through our office and done at Beaumont Hospital-Royal Oak. If you are over 50 years of age, you should be screened for colon cancer.
