Union Park is an urban community located near the geographic center of the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metropolitan area, south of Hamline-Midway and north of Macalester-Groveland. It is home to active, engaged residents who proudly support the area’s character and amenities. The community is largely residential, with a 50/50 mix of renters and homeowners, with many tree-lined streets and well-maintained homes where families have prospered for over a century. The area is also home to many large and small retailers whose presence makes this a vibrant, walkable community. It also includes light industry, a large number of nonprofits, many public schools, and three universities within or adjacent to its boundaries.
Union Park is an area of Saint Paul between the Mississippi River and Lexington Avenue, and University and Summit Avenues, including the Merriam Park, Snelling-Hamline, and Lexington-Hamline neighborhoods. Those three neighborhood councils merged in 2007 to form the Union Park District Council, which is one of 17 planning councils in the city of Saint Paul.
