I studied and trained in mediation in 2001 and 2002 at Humboldt State University’s Institute For The Study Of Alternative Dispute Resolution and with Humboldt Mediation Services.
My work life has included:
• Providing legal services for the poor at Pikes Peak Legal Services in Colorado Springs, Colorado;
• Practicing law privately in Telluride, Colorado;
• Teaching Language Arts and Social Studies in Eureka Public Schools in Eureka, California;
• Teaching criminal law and paralegal training at College of the Redwoods, in Eureka, California and at Durham Technical Community College in Durham, North Carolina;
• Serving as Program Director for Basic Law Enforcement Training for six years at Durham Technical Community College in Durham, North Carolina;
• Providing mediation services for families and other disputants in the Hoopa and Karuk tribes of Northern California for five years;
• Leading meditation training workshops for the Hoopa, Yurok, and Karuk tribes;
• Serving for one year as a mediator and case manager for the Family Court of Humboldt County Superior Court in Eureka, California;
• Sitting twice on the Board of Directors of Humboldt Mediation Services in Eureka, California, including currently;
• Volunteering on community mediation panels for Humboldt Mediation Services, mentoring new mediators, and providing HMS with advice regarding custody and divorce mediations.
